A positive, confidential and non-judgemental project working with Charter housing tenants supporting families with children under the age of eleven with concerns regarding their children’s behaviour. Concerns can be around eating. Sleeping, toileting, behaviour management, relationship breakdown affecting family life, anger issues, children with additional/special needs, emotional concerns such as an anxious or worried child or other issues affecting your relationship with your child.

Playgroups in Caerphilly

Registered playgroups, also known as pre-schools and play-schools can be run by community or voluntary groups, local authorities or privately. Playgroups open for morning or afternoon sessions only, for between 2 and 4 hours, up to five days a week. Most children in playgroups are aged between 2½ and 5 years. No meals are provided.

Most pre-schools have the same term dates as local schools and are open from Monday to Friday term-time only. Pre-schools usually charge a fee.

Playgroups allow children to play in small groups offering them lots of opportunities to learn through a wide range of fun activities. Children enjoy a safe and stimulating play environment and learn to develop socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically.

Parent and Toddler Groups in Caerphilly

Parent and Toddler and Ti a Fi Group’s provide play opportunities for children and social opportunities for parents to meet in an informal atmosphere at a reasonable cost.

They are mainly for children aged under 2½ years old and provide a happy, safe and stimulating environment for children to meet, socialise and play. The parent/carer must stay with the child throughout the session.

Day Nurseries in Caerphilly

Registered day nurseries can be run by community or voluntary groups, local authorities or privately.

Most are open 8am until 6pm Monday to Friday and full and part time places can be arranged to meet your family requirements. They can be registered for early years education and provide full day care, educational and fun activities for babies and children up to the age of 5yrs.

Some nurseries run holiday clubs during the school holidays and a pick up and drop off service providing wrap-a-round care for school age children from 3 – 8 years.

Costs can vary and under the new WTC (Working Tax Credit) you may be entitled to help towards paying for childcare.

Flying Start is a Welsh Government funded Programme and is available in some areas supporting all families to give 0-3 year olds a Flying Start in life.

The scheme aims to provide intensive support services for children aged 0-3 years old and their families. This includes free part-time child care, parenting groups and support, and more. GAVO’s Caerphilly Volunteer Centre offers up-to-date information, advice and guidance to anyone looking for volunteering opportunities. They have a range of volunteering opportunities and we will try to match your skills and interests with a suitable vacancy. You can volunteer with many different organisations and people in your area and most organisations offer some kind of training and pay out-of-pocket expenses.

You may also be able to join The Millennium Volunteer Programme.  This aims to encourage young people to take part in volunteering opportunities that can offer them the chance to give 200 hours of their time to a project of their choice. Certificates awarded to recognise 50 and 100 hours of volunteering as stepping stones towards the 200 Hours Award of Excellence certificate, which is signed by the First Minister of Wales. The Parent Network is a free membership organisation set up with parents for parents. The Network provides ways to bring parents together and involve them in giving their views and influence services for children and families across the borough. As a member of the Parent Network you will receive a bi-annual newsletter and invitations to participate in twice yearly conferences called PlaNet Events. These are free events which include lunch, crèche and in many cases free transport can be provided to and from the venue.
