Housing in Monmouthshire
Monmouthshire Homesearch is a partnership between Monmouthshire County Council, and the three largest housing associations operating in the county:
Monmouthshire Housing Association (MHA)
The partnership offers homes at affordable social housing rents, intermediate/market rents, and low cost home ownership schemes.
To register for affordable accommodation with a housing association, please visit the Monmouthshire Homesearch website at www.monmouthshirehomesearch.co.uk.
SmartMove is Monmouthshire Housing Associations downsizing incentive scheme, you could receive up to £1000.
If you’re looking to move you can also consider ‘swapping’ your home with another council or housing association tenant. There are several websites that do this – if you Google ‘council swap’ you’ll find loads!
Gateway Credit Union
Credit Unions are community based financial cooperatives. They provide straight forward, affordable financial services which, unlike the usual high-street lender are there to solely help its members and community. As a credit union member you must make small regular payments into a savings account, you will then be able to have preferential rate loans. Credit unions charge very low interest rates. Credit Union members are encouraged to save for their future, and in return they receive affordable credit, free insurance on loans, financial advice and a healthy return on their money.
